Spread the love

Still childless at 100, God made the Abrahams a promise. On a star-studded night, God pointed to the heavens and solemnly swore to them, “I will give you children as plenty as the stars of heaven”.

He laughed! And she laughed! He laughed till he could no longer stand on his feet. She laughed and her laughs roared through the tent so the angel visitor heard her. God’s promise to them seemed ridiculous. It sounded like lies.

This is for you…

Today, you feel stuck in-between the manifestation of God’s promises and your reality.

You know you do worse than the Abrahams when you think of God’s promises and your stark reality. You cry, you don’t laugh. You doubt you don’t laugh. You wonder how long more you can hold on to his promises.

Many good words have been spoken into your life. Words of healing, deliverance and hope. You have received God’s promises through words of prophecy. But you know you are giving in to the lie that those promises are too good to be true.

You have steadfastly waited on God’s promises over the years. But now you have opted to proceed with plenty of cautions and options. So that in case those promises refuses to materialize, you can pick the broken pieces of your life together some other way. Then these words are for you…

God cannot lie!

When I am pulled at the intersection of fulfillment and reality, these bible verses have helped me put my trust in the one whose words can be trusted.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. Ephesians 3:20. KJV

God will beat your wildest dreams

This is one of my favorite verses. Imagine it, and God is more than able to exceed or beat it. So this is it, you can choose to bow in awe of your mighty reality or simply embrace the power of Christ in you.

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him, the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 1: 20. NIV

God’s promises to you are confirmed in Christ

There has not failed one word of all His good Promise. 1 Kings 8:56

God can be trusted

You can trust God to fulfill his promises. Job trusted God, even when it seems like God was killing him.

Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him, “You will be proved right in what you say, and you will win your case in court.” Romans 3 vs 4. NLT

Call the whole world a liar, God remains true

Away with such a thought, let God be true. Though every single man on earth is a liar, including the noblest people you’ve ever met. God is different. He is ever true. So no matter who has disappointed or failed you, God won’t because he is ever true to his promise.

So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. Hebrews 6 vs 18 NLT.

God’s words are His collateral

When you go to a bank to obtain credit, you sometimes need a collateral – the guarantee that you will pay back. God’s collateral to his promissory note is his words, a rock-solid guarantee. Because the word of God can’t be broken, you have every reason to hold on to what God promised you with both hands and never let go.

Also, the Glory of Israel will not lie or change His mind; for He is not a man that He should change His mind.1 Samuel 15:29

Your unfaithfulness will not cancel out his faithfulness

“This is happening to you because you have sinned”. Have you heard those words from people you love? Job’s friend said the same to him. So who hasn’t sinned? All have sinned the scriptures say. Sometimes we think we do not deserve or warrant the fulfillment of his promises because of what we have done or haven’t done. When God promises you, nothing you have done will make him take his words back.

God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Numbers 23:19 NLT

Concerning you, God doesn’t regret a thing.

A change of mind goes hand in hand with broken promises. But concerning you, God doesn’t change his mind. God doesn’t babble, but when he talks he backs his words with actions. If he promises, he will bring to pass.

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. Isaiah 55 vs 10-11. NASB

God’s promise cannot return void, His words will accomplish His purpose.

What God says he will do, he will do.

I am the LORD, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed. Malachi 3 vs 6

God is committed to your course

God stays committed to his promise to you.

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Luke 21 vs 33. KJV

Even when the stars are falling, you can hold on to his promises.

Even when God’s handiwork including his abode passes away, his words will not pass away. If the mountains are crumbling and heaven above is falling down, or earth below caves in, you can still hold on to his promise. Wow!

God said to Moses,I AM WHO I AM; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, I AM has sent me to you. Exodus 3:14

I AM WHO I AM – The one who doesn’t change no matter what changes.
