Spread the love
Jeremiah 35: 15-17 Again, God’s Message: “Listen to this! Laments coming out of Ramah, wild and bitter weeping. It’s Rachel weeping for her children, Rachel refusing all solace. Her children are gone, gone—long gone into exile. ”But God says, “Stop your incessant weeping, hold back your tears. Collect wages from your grief work.” God’s Decree. “They’ll be coming back home! There’s hope for your children.” God’s Decree.

Heavens listen when a mother cries out on behalf of her children in the place of prayer.

A mother’s cry for her children will never go unanswered. Even if it takes years, and long after she is gone, her prayers don’t stop opening doors for her children.

Her children have hope because she kneels for them in prayer today. Her children walk in victory because she wins battles for them on her knees.

Today, in my post I want to share 7 prayers we can pray for our children as a praying mother. If you have not been praying persistently for your children, take this as a clarion call to prayer.

When our children have our prayers, they have all they need in the world for the journey ahead of them.

“There are few things more powerful than the faithful prayers of a righteous mother”. Boyd Packer.

1- Prayer for their salvation.

Matthew 19:14. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”.

Short prayer.

Father, in the book of John 3:16, you gave the best gift to my children. I pray you will help them receive your gift of salvation. Your word says as many as received Christ, you gave the power to become children of God. They are mine, Father, make them yours. Open their eyes to the gift of salvation. Remove every veil keeping them from the truth of the gospel. Bring them from the kingdom of darkness to that of your dear son. Convict them of sin and make them yours, Lord. Plant them Lord in your house, oh Lord, so they flourish in your presence, lithe and green, virile still in old age.

2- Prayer for courage to stand for what is right.

2 Timothy 1:7. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.

Short Prayer.

Father, in a world where the thick line between right and wrong is rapidly fading, help my child find the courage to stand up for what is right. As they stand for what is right, I pray you will stand alongside them like you stood with the Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace, Daniel 3. Give them the courage to stand up for the weak and up against bullies and oppressors. Your word says the righteous are as bold as a lion, Proverbs 28:1. Father, let your holy spirit embolden them to live their life to the fullest and to stand upright in an upside-down world. Amen.

3- Prayer for protection from the evil in the world.

Ephesians 5:16. Redeeming the time because the days are evil.

Short prayer.

Father, I know my children and I live in a sinful and evil world. As you prayed for the disciples to be protected from evil in the world, I pray also that you will protect my children from the evil in our fallen world. According to your word in psalm 90:10, let no evil befall them. Guard them against the evil in their days as they go out and come back home. I pray you will redeem their time in this world so no evil will befall them today, tomorrow, and forevermore. Amen.

4- Prayer to find their voice in their generation

1 Samuel 3:10. The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

Short Prayer.

Father, you helped Samuel find his voice in his generation at a very early age. When he speaks, Israel listens. I pray that you help my children find their voice in their generation. When they speak, let the world listen. Please don’t let them be silenced by the evil in this world. Let them be heard above bullies and hate. Amen.

5- Prayer for the spirit of excellence in life

Daniel 1: 20a. In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all

Short prayer.

Father, you gave Daniel knowledge and understanding of all kinds of books and life learning. I pray you to bestow upon my children an unusual knowledge, wisdom, and understanding that will make them ten times smarter than their equals in school and in life.

I pray the spirit of excellence will come upon them, that you will set them apart in life for excellence in all they do. Amen. David said in Psalm 119:99, I’ve even become smarter than my teachers since I’ve pondered and absorbed your counsel. I pray that they will yield to your guidance in their life endeavors. Amen.

6- Prayer for growth.

Luke 2:52. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

Short Prayer.

Father, as your son grew in all areas in life while here on earth, please help my children grow physically, spiritually (in their relationship with God), mentally (in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding), and socially (in their relationship with others). You said in Isaiah 49:23 that Kings shall be my nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers. Father, I pray that everywhere my children go, they will be favored by people in a position to help them achieve greatness in life. I pray they will never grow out of favor from men, women, and people of influence on their journey in life.

7- Prayer for God’s guidance and direction

Isaiah 30:21. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it."

Short Prayer.

Father, when making big decisions and even the smaller ones, guide my child. Put them on the right track and help them not stray away from the path that is right for them. I pray that they will hear your voice showing them the right path regarding their choice of spouse, career, relationships in life, and other life choices. Amen.
